A VICTIM was left with severe facial injuries and a bleed on the brain after he and another man were 'violently assaulted' outside a Bridport kebab shop during the early hours of this morning, police say.

Officers investigating allegations of serious assault are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information to come forward – with one man being arrested.

The incident, which is reported to have happened in East Street outside the kebab shop, was reported to police at 2.56am today (Saturday July 24.)

It has been reported that two men were assaulted by two other men and one of the victims, a local man in his 40s, ended up unconscious on the floor.

He was taken to hospital with severe facial injuries and a bleed on the brain. The other victim, a man in his thirties, suffered bruising.

Following the incident, a 35-year-old man from Lincolnshire was arrested on suspicion of assault and is helping officers with their enquiries.

Detective Inspector Mark Portelli, of Western CID, said: “We are making a number of enquiries, including looking at CCTV.

“It was reported that the other suspect left the area in a taxi.

“I am appealing for witnesses or anyone with information about those involved to come forward.

“Also, I believe some people in the area at the time may have captured the incident on their mobile phones. Therefore, I am particularly interested in hearing from anyone who has relevant footage.”
