A ROAD just outside of Bridport will be closed for more than a day for roadworks - with a 10 kilometre diversion route in place.

A section of Slape Hill in Waytown will be closed between 9.30am on Monday, July 12 and 3.30pm on Tuesday, July 13.

The road will be closed between the junction at Pineapple Lane and the junction at Ash Lane.

The closure will be in place to allow Openreach workers safe access to work on an underground structure and overhead cable in the highway to provide a customer connection.

The temporary closure notice will come into operation on July 12 and will remain in force for five days, however it is anticipated that the works will be completed by July 13.

Whilst the road closure is in place, a 9.8 kilometre diversion route will be signposted, taking approximately fifteen minutes.

Alternatively, there are a number of shorter but unofficial routes that drivers can take to avoid the road closure. These are not suitable for HGVs and should be avoided if using larger machinery.
