CHILDREN at a Charmouth school took part in a fun filled active week just before half term.

Charmouth Primary School participated in Everybody Active Week in May.

The week began with a visit from Paralympian David Hill inspiring the children with his experiences, challenges and skills. Children from Year 1 to Year 6 visited the Rockburn Climbing Centre in Bridport to take part in some bouldering at Rockburn, a group of children visited the Charmouth Lawn Bowls Club to have a go at lawn bowls and the range of activities in school included football, athletics, street dance, circus skills and ultimate frisbee.

The school now plans for Everybody Active Week to become an annual event. The last such week took place in 2019 as the coronavirus pandemic put a stop to a planned 2020 week.

Laura Cornish, headteacher at Charmouth Primary School, said: ‘It has been a real pleasure to see all the children have a go at new and different activities, particularly after the challenges of the last year. They have encouraged and supported each other to really be the very best versions of themselves."

Over the second half of the summer term there is a range of activities and visits planned for the children at Charmouth Primary School, including the older children taking part in an activity day and going sailing, children in years 3 and 4 visiting Abbotsbury Gardens, children in years 1 and 2 visiting Axe Valley Wildlife Park and animals visiting the children in nursery and reception.
