A PERSON has been rescued from the roof of their car after it became trapped in floodwater.

At 6.11pm yesterday evening, crews from Beaminster and Crewkerne fire stations were called to Clapton, Somerset, after receiving reports of a person stuck on the roof of their vehicle, as well as people stuck in tents on a campsite.

A spokesman for Beaminster Fire Station said: "Beaminster and Crewkerne crews rescued a person from the roof of a vehicle stuck in floodwater and people in tents and caravans from a campsite using a wading team."

After, the crews were called to assist Bridport Fire Station with removing water from a property that had flooded in Mosterton.

A spokesman for Beaminster Fire Station said: "Then crews were mobilised to external flooding to a property in Clapton. Crews cleared drains and pumped water to help divert the water from the house."

A spokesman for Bridport Fire Station said: "An appliance from Bridport was mobilised to a property in Mosterton that was being affected by flash flooding. Crews used a light portable pump to pump out the rear courtyard and cleared the drains to allow water to drain away naturally. Before leaving crews removed water from within the property."
