A CYCLIST was hospitalised after a collision with a car - where the driver failed to stop.

The collision happened yesterday morning in Burton Road near the Freshwater Beach Holiday Park, in Burton Bradstock.

The motorist failed to stop after the collision, which caused the cyclist - a man in his 30s - to sustain minor injuries.

Police are now appealing to witnesses who may have seen the collision or anyone with any dashcam footage.

A Dorset Police spokesman said: "West Dorset officers are appealing for witnesses or anyone with relevant dashcam footage to come forward following a fail-to-stop collision in West Dorset

"Dorset Police was called at 6.25am on Thursday, June 24 to a report of a collision involving a car and a cyclist on Burton Road near to the Freshwater Beach Holiday Park in Burton Bradstock.

"The cyclist – a man aged in his 30s from Bridport – sustained minor injuries and was taken to hospital for treatment.

"It's reported that the vehicle left the scene."

Police Constable Mark Haseman, of West Dorset police, said: "We are carrying out an investigation into this collision to try and locate the driver of the car that failed to stop.

"I am appealing to any witnesses who have not already spoken to police to please get in touch.

"I am also really keen to hear from any motorists who were travelling in the area and may have captured anything of relevance on dashcam."
