AN EVENT to celebrate the launch of a local skate park has been postponed due to the extension of restrictions.

The Beaminster Skate Jam event due to take place on Saturday, June 26 has been postponed following the government’s decision to delay the lift of the current Covid restrictions.

Work at the new skate park at the Memorial Playing Fields off Hogshill Street was completed in April and residents have been enjoying it ever since.

Plans to build a skate park in the area have been ongoing for the past five years - with the building of a skate park being identified as a priority in a survey taken by Beaminster residents in 2016.

The Skate Jam event was to be the first major event at the park, as there was no opening event in April due to the lockdown restrictions.

Beaminster Town Council, which is hosting the event, will be announcing a new date shortly.
