AN OPEN MIC style event, incorporating music and speakers is taking place to raise money for two local good causes.

The Barking Mad Fundraiser will be taking place on Sunday, June 27 at Bridport Arts Centre to fundraise for a mental health charity and a local food bank..

The event is in aid of the Harmony Mental Health Drop-in Centre and Cupboard Love, Bridport's food bank.

The open mic event will consist of a number of speakers, music, refreshments and homemade cakes courtesy of Moore than Tea with Bridport Mayor Cllr Ian Bark acting as the event's MC.

Roz Copson, one of the organisers of the event, said: "Anyone can be affected by mental health, it can be difficult to determine as you can’t see mental illness. Talking about it is the best way to deal with it and that's what Harmony is there for.

"Cupboard Love has also been doing incredibly important work throughout the town.

"The Barking Mad Fundraisers should be a really fun event, where people can safely get together after the lockdown to raise for two very important causes."

Ticket prices cost £5 and £3 for concessions. The event will start at 3pm and everyone should be seated by 2.30pm.

Tickets are available from the Tourist Information Centre on 01308 424901 or online at www.bridport-arts.com/
