THAT roundabout...
I think Mandy Selhurst’s hope that Highways England will be more imaginative than Dorset Council and Bridport Town Council is admirable but rather optimistic. We moved to Bridport sixteen ago and were charmed by the shrubs and tree on the ‘Mitsubishi’ roundabout at the bottom of East Road close to where we live. However, we saw a gradual deterioration in their condition due to lack of maintenance by Highways England, with the final coup de grace administered by the council when it removed the central lamp post.
Highways England seems to have a limitless budget for cutting down trees but I have little hope that it will do more than watch the ‘wildflowers’ grow.
