A BRIDPORT dance troop has produced a film which will be shown at a national festival.

Bridport Youth Dance's short dance film 'The Dance Weavers - Emerging' has been selected for the 2021 U.Dance National Youth Dance Festival.

The Dance Weavers was filmed last July and is about the talented young dancers reconnecting with each other and with the beautiful West Dorset countryside.

Eype beach, Charmouth, Symondsbury Estate, Lewesdon and Allington Hill provide the backdrop - whilst dancers George Green, Chiara Sidebotham, Similce Jacobson, Rory Armstrong, Louis Donovan, Reuben Squirrell, Elfin Bonome and Connie Vicary perform.

U.Dance is a national programme of events offering high quality dance opportunities to young people. The U.Dance National Festival invites groups selected from U.Dance Regional Platforms to experience a summer celebration of dance.

This year's event will take place online from Friday, July 16 to Sunday, July 18.

A spokesperson for Bridport Youth Dance said: "At a time when our world was turned upside down by a pandemic the dance film offers hope, positivity and a reminder of the beauty of our world despite the chaos.

"The film was made possible by support from Brit Valley Rotary, Bridport Rotary, The Bridport Charities, The Walbridge Trust, Bridport Town Council and Bridport Lions."
