FEWER than 30 coronavirus cases have been recorded across Dorset, according to the latest statistics.

The latest Government figures show 28 people have tested positive for Covid-19 in the county in the 24 hours leading up to 4pm on Saturday, June 5.

In the Dorset Council area, five new cases were reported. Since the beginning of the pandemic, there have been 11,982 Covid-19 cases confirmed across this area.

Over the latest rolling seven-day period for the Dorset Council area, 19 Covid-19 cases were reported, with a case rate of 5 per 100,000 people.

23 new cases were recorded across the BCP Council, taking the total number of coronavirus cases since the start of the pandemic to 25,540.

The rolling seven-day period for the BCP is 35 cases, with a case rate of 8.9 per 100,000 people.

The latest figures released on Saturday are an increase on the coronavirus cases reported on Friday, June 4 after 17 people tested positive for Covid-19. 

During the course of the coronavirus pandemic, there have been 37,522 cases of Covid-19 confirmed across Dorset.

Elsewhere, the New Forest area recorded no new coronavirus cases. The total number of coronavirus cases since the start of the pandemic stands within the New Forest at 6,241.

The seven-day total for New Forest is six, with a case rate of 3.3 per 100,000 people.
