A TOTAL of 17 new coronavirus cases have been recorded across Dorset, according to the latest statistics.

The latest Government figures show 17 people have tested positive for Covid-19 in the county in the 24 hours leading up to 4pm on Friday, June 4.

In the Dorset Council area, six new cases were reported. Since the beginning of the pandemic, there has been 11,982 Covid-19 cases confirmed across the local authority area.

The number of coronavirus cases over the latest rolling seven-day period for the Dorset Council area is 13 cases, and the case rate is 3.4 per 100,000 people.

11 new cases were recorded across the BCP Council, taking the total number of coronavirus cases since the start of the pandemic to 25,517.

The rolling seven-day period for the BCP is 33 cases, with a case rate of 8.3 per 100,000 people.

During the course of the coronavirus pandemic, there has been 37,466 cases of Covid-19 confirmed across Dorset.

Elsewhere, the New Forest area recorded two new coronavirus cases. The total number of coronavirus cases since the start of the pandemic stands within the New Forest at 6,241.

The seven-day total for New Forest is six, with a case rate of 3.3 per 100,000 people.

Across the UK, 6,238 new cases of the Covid-19 virus were recorded, taking the total number of coronavirus cases since the start of the pandemic to 4,506,018.
