AN OFF-DUTY paramedic was on hand to help a casualty who had fallen on concrete steps in West Dorset.

Lyme Regis Coastguard and an ambulance were called out yesterday afternoon after reports a casualty had fallen on concrete steps at Charmouth Beach.

However, the team were stood down on route after the off-duty paramedic was on hand to provide assistance.

A spokesman from Lyme Regis Coastguard said: "At 1.10pm we were called to assist an ambulance after reports of a person that had fallen on the concrete steps at Charmouth Beach.

"The team was stood down on route.

"An off-duty paramedic had helped and the casualty was making his way home.

"For emergencies on the sea, cliff, river, mud, harbour and beach call 999 and ask for the coastguard."
