A TOTAL of 10 new coronavirus cases have been recorded across Dorset in the latest 24-hour period, figures show.

The latest Government figures show 10 people have tested positive for Covid-19 in the county in the 24 hours leading up to 4pm on Saturday May 29.

Seven new cases were recorded across the BCP Council, taking the total number of coronavirus cases since the start of the pandemic to 25,479.

The rolling seven-day period for the BCP is 24 cases, with a case rate of 6.1 per 100,000 people.

In the Dorset Council area, three new case were recorded, meaning that, since March 2020, there has been 11,948 Covid-19 cases confirmed across the local authority area.

The number of coronavirus cases over the latest rolling seven-day period for the Dorset Council area is 15 cases, and the case rate is four per 100,000 people.

Elsewhere, the New Forest area recorded no new coronavirus cases recorded within the last 24-hour period.

The total number of coronavirus cases since the start of the pandemic stands within the New Forest at 6,227.

The seven-day total for New Forest is 9, with a case rate of five per 100,000 people.

Across the UK, 3,398 new cases of the Covid-19 virus were recorded, taking the total number of corornavirus cases since the start of the pandemic to 4,480,945.
