A TOTAL of two new cases of coronavirus have been confirmed across Dorset within the past 24 hours, according to the latest revised figures.

The latest Government figure shows two new case were recorded across Dorset within the latest 24-hour period up to Wednesday May 19.

On May 18, the Government revised historical case data in England.

The introduction of a new system disrupted the removal of cases where a positive rapid lateral flow test (LFD) was followed by all negative laboratory (PCR) tests taken within three days.

There was one new case recorded in the Dorset Council area. Since March 2020, revised date from the Government show there have been 11,932 cases confirmed across the Dorset Council area.

The number of coronavirus cases over the latest rolling seven-day period for the Dorset Council area is 23 cases, with a case rate of 6.1 per 100,000 people.

There was also one new case recorded across the BCP Council area during the same period. Amid the revised data, the total number of coronavirus cases since the start of the pandemic in this area now stands at 25,433.

The rolling seven-day period for the BCP is 40 cases - with a case rate of 10.1 per 100,000 people.

The total number of coronavirus cases recorded across Dorset since the start of the pandemic is 37,365.

In the New Forest, there were three new coronavirus cases recorded within the last 24-hour period according to the revised data, bringing the total for the area up to 6,217.

The seven-day period for New Forest is eight, with a case rate of 4.4 per 100,000 people.

Across the south west, there have been a further 54 new cases recorded, bringing the revised total for the region up to 222,330.

Across England there were 2,151 new cases bringing the revised total to 3,887,954.

Due to the revised data, a further 561 cases have been removed.

Regions and local authorities do not show the actual number of new cases reported. UK and England numbers of newly reported cases have been adjusted and correctly reflect new cases reported.

According to the Government, this issue will be ongoing over the next few days.
