A CASUALTY was taken to hospital after a joint operation from the coastguard and an ambulance crew in West Dorset.

Lyme Regis Coastguard rushed to the eastern sea wall at Lyme Regis around 2pm yesterday afternoon to help a casualty in need of medical assistance. On arrival the coastguard crew stabilised the casualty by providing initial care before the ambulance crew arrived.

A spokesman from the coastguard, said: "At 1.53pm, Lyme Regis Coastguard team was tasked to help South Western Ambulance Service with a casualty needing medical assistance on the eastern sea wall at Lyme Regis.

"On arrival at scene, initial casualty care was provided, and the casualty was stabilised.

"On the arrival of the ambulance - the casualty was handed over for further care and assessment at the hospital.

"We wish the casualty a speedy recovery.

"For emergencies on the sea, cliff, river, mud, harbour and beach, call 999 and ask for the coastguard."
