A TEENAGER has been arrested after a man was hospitalised following a shooting incident near Dorchester.

As reported, Dorset Police was called at 9pm on Sunday, May 9 by the ambulance service to a report that a man had been shot with a BB gun at an address on Long Ash Lane near to Wardon Hill.

The victim – a man aged in his 20s – was taken to hospital for treatment. He sustained minor injuries.

Officers attended and carried out searches of the nearby area, assisted by the NPAS helicopter.

Following investigations by Dorset Police, an 18-year-old man from Dorchester has been arrested on suspicion of assault and possession of a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence. He is currently assisting officers with their enquiries.

Dorset Police say the arrested man and the victim are known to each other.
