BRIDPORT Leisure Centre can now offer more facilities to its swimmers as refurbishment at the centre has been completed.

Throughout the pandemic, between each lockdown, the centre had been unable to offer changing facilities to their swimmers. Now, thanks to increased unisex changing cubicles, swimmers can change comfortably and safely and swimming numbers have increased.

The improvements include; additional cubicle changing, including accessible and family changing cubicles. The changing room lighting has been replaced with energy efficient LED panels and emergency LED spotlights. Old vanity units have been removed and new trough sinks installed, and the tiled floor also benefits from re-grouting.

The work was possible thanks to grants from Sports England and the Symondsbury Parish Council.

Bridport Leisure Centre Manager William Thrower said: “Thanks to these grants we have modernised our facilities and can now provide additional cubical changing, which comfortably allows for social distancing. We would like to thank a number of local tradesmen who provided their services with very little notice.

“Our grateful thanks go to Pete George Electrical, Tony Symes, DH Townsend, Ed Hedger, Chris Scadding, Commercial Washrooms and Malcolm Heaver, who offered his time free of charge”.
