A spokesman for Bridport Fire Station said: "One appliance from Bridport was mobilised to a fire in the open in Beaminster.

"On arrival crews found a local business burning undesirable waste material including carpet, underlay and mattresses amongst other things. The fire was also under high voltage power lines.

"Crews used two hose reel jets, two tanks of water and small tools to extinguish the fire and advice was given to the business owner.

"Commercial waste should always be disposed of in a responsible manner to avoid any unnecessary damage to the environment."

The crews were unable to gain access to the emergency water supply tank on the trading estate as a vehicle was parked in front of the supply coupling.
