FIREFIGHTERS were called to the scene after an Aga caught fire at a property in Netherbury.

Two crews from Bridport Fire Station and Crewkerne Fire Station were called out to the property on Slape Hill in Netherbury at 8.50am this morning.

The owner of the property had become aware of the fire after waking up and walking downstairs into the kitchen to let their pets out.

By the time the crews arrived at the scene the fire had been put out. The firefighters carried out an inspection and ensured the scene was safe.

A spokesman for Bridport Fire Station said:"An appliance from Bridport and an appliance from Crewkerne were mobilised to a suspected property fire in Netherbury after an Aga had caught fire.

"The fire was out on arrival. Crews carried out an inspection and made the scene safe.

"Ensure you have working smoke alarms and they are regularly tested."
