FEWER THAN 20 coronavirus cases were confirmed in Dorset over the last 24 hours, latest figures show.

Data released by the government shows that, in the 24 hours leading up to 4pm on Friday May 7, 11 cases were confirmed across the county.

The Dorset Council area recorded one new case, taking the total to 11,915.

In the seven days leading up to May 2, the latest seven day rolling period, the rolling rate in Dorset was 8.7 after 33 cases were confirmed.

In the BCP Council area, 10 cases were confirmed, taking the area’s total since the start of the pandemic to 25,390.

In the seven days leading up to May 2, 60 cases were confirmed in BCP, giving a rolling infection rate of 15.2 per 100,000 people.

Across the UK, 2,490 new cases of the Covid-19 virus were reported, taking the total number of positive cases in the UK since the start of the pandemic to 4,431,043.
