Did you know that the winner of the Miss World title in 1965 hailed from Weymouth?
Blonde Lesley Langley, who was born in Weymouth, was only the third woman from England to win the Miss World title in the 60s.
Amazingly Lesley succeeded another Dorset woman as Miss World - Ann Sidney of Poole.
Growing up in Berkshire in the 1950s, Lesley attended the Royal Merchant Navy School.
In 1965 she won the title of both Miss United Kingdom and Miss World.
As you can see from the picture above, Lesley made a return visit to her birthplace of Weymouth after she was crowned Miss World.

She capitalised on her Miss World popularity by doing pictorials for the men's magazines 'Cavalcade," "Cavalier' and 'Escapade'. She married famous jazz organist Alan Haven.
The couple had a daughter named Chloe and eventually got divorced.
Lesley appeared in television series including Dr Who and Comedy Playhouse.
