RESIDENTS are being encouraged to report litter found on Dorset roads.

Dorset Council is urging people to report litter seen on the pavement, highway or thrown from a vehicle using an online form and is warning those who choose to litter that they can be fined.

Residents who participate will be asked to pinpoint where they saw the litter on an interactive map and to provide additional details of what they saw. Pictures are also encouraged, along with dashcam footage and vehicle information if the litter was thrown from a car.

A spokesman for Dorset Council said: "If caught littering from your vehicle, you can be fined up to £100. We work closely with Litter Free Dorset to reduce the social, economic and environmental impacts of litter. This is done by trying to stop littering behaviour in the first place and through clean up campaigns."
