A DISABILITIES charity is encouraging supporters to 'Do Your Own Thing' with a new fundraising campaign.

Diverse Abilities has launched the 'Do Your Own Thing' campaign and is inviting residents to do whatever they want to raise money so that the charity can continue supporting children and adults with profound physical and learning disabilities across Dorset.

Naomi Richards, fundraising officer at Diverse Abilities, said: "The great thing about this is that the only limit is your imagination. So far, we've had people running laps of the garden through to training for marathons, hosting virtual pub quizzes and taking part in weight loss challenges."

Amelie Mortimer, aged seven, from Blandford, has raised £40 by running laps around her back garden. She said: "I wanted to raise some money for charity because I know it is really important, now more than ever."

The charity has put suggestions for fundraising activities on their website. For more information and to take part, visit www.diverseabilities.org.uk/dyot
