WE ARE once again applying for permission to house the less fortunate of Bridport. We are seeking to create 8 more spacious energy efficient homes.
There was a flurry of letters in your pages which went off the boil, the need however does not go away.
I am told that it costs more to keep people homeless than to house them, so we as a society seem to have decided to punish people who fall into this trap.
For me this is a bad use of money. I do not want ex-servicemen to be homeless and ex-servicemen make up a significant portion of the homeless.
The mortality statistics for homeless people are appalling. We cannot do much, as a voluntary organisation we are not wholly suited to accommodating homeless people, but we have done so in the past and this has inspired me to do as much as we can.
