PUBLIC Health Dorset has urged people to not delay getting their second Covid jab - saying every dose 'gives us hope of getting life moving'.

Since the start of the vaccination programme which began at the end of last year, a total of 457,674 patients have received their first dose of the Covid-19 vaccine, while 146,463 have received both doses - giving a cumulative total of 604,137.

A spokesman from Public Health Dorset, said: "The second does of the Covid-19 vaccine helps to provide longer term protection.

"Every vaccine dose gives us hope of getting life moving again and protecting our friends and family from the virus.

"Don't delay in getting your vaccine when it's offered to you.

"It's important to keep to your vaccination appointment when it's offered to you."

Additionally, across the south west 3,093,957 patients have received the first dose, while 1,294,187 have received both - giving a cumulative total of 4,388,144.
