TWO people have been airlifted to hospital after being seriously injured in a four-vehicle crash on the A35.

Police, land ambulance and air ambulance attended the scene of the crash which involved two motorcycles and two cars.

Road closures are in place and traffic between Bridport and Dorchester has been affected.

As reported, the crash happened this afternoon between Kingston Russell and Winterbourne Abbas.

A South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust (SWASFT) spokesman said: “We were called at 4.06pm about a multi-vehicle collision on the A35 near Winterbourne Abbas. We sent various resources to the scene, including land and air ambulance crews. We treated two seriously injured patients at the scene, and they were conveyed to hospital by air ambulance for further care.”

A spokesman for Dorset Police said: "We were called at 4.10pm with a report of a collision on the A35 west of Winterbourne Abbas. It was reported that the collision involved two motorcycles and two cars.

"Officers are currently at the scene along with the ambulance service and road closures have been put in place as emergency services respond to the incident."
