A MOBILE screening cabin for breast cancer is to pop up in Dorchester by the end of April.
There is currently a breast screening cabin in Melcombe Avenue at Weymouth Hospital's car park, which will remain stationed there until 2022.
University Hospitals Dorset NHS Foundation Trust will invite attendees to an X-ray scan in order to detect early signs of breast cancer.
A spokesman for the Dorset breast screening service, said: "About one in eight women in the UK are diagnosed with breast cancer during their lifetime.
"If it's detected early, treatment is more successful and there's a good chance of recovery.
"Breast screening uses an X-ray test called a mammogram to check the breast for signs of cancer. It can spot cancers that are too small to see or feel.
"As the likelihood of getting breast cancer increases with age, all women aged from 50 to their 71, who are registered with a GP, are automatically invited for breast cancer screening every three years.
"There will be other cabins at Tesco in Dorchester by the end of April for three months, a cabin at Walford Mill in Wimborne, and another service at Littledown Centre, in Bournemouth for six months."
In order to maximise the appointment slots the booking system has changed. Women who are registered with a GP will receive a letter inviting them to ring the breast screening unit at Poole Hospital to make an appointment.
Please don’t visit the mobile screening sites or the static unit in Poole unless you have an appointment.
