LYME REGIS 2 FENITON 2

LYME Regis returned to action with a creditable 2-2 draw against Feniton in Devon & Exeter League Premier East.

Tyler Wellman headed the Seasiders into the lead before Max Cooper turned the game on its head with a second-half brace.

With fitness lacking after four months off, Lyme dug deep to claim an equaliser as a Ben Vine corner forced a Feniton defender to inadvertently nod into his own net.

Speaking to the Bridport News, joint-boss Julien Simier was content with a point against Feniton, who are now 10 games unbeaten.

He said: “We’re delighted with the result.

“We’re just excited to bring everyone back to the pitch, not too worried about the competitive side.

“Obviously, we all have a competitive side in us hidden somewhere, but against a team that has been hyped from the beginning of the season, they gave us a good test.

“I think 2-2 is a fair draw for both teams.”

Lyme now turn their attentions to a Dorset Senior Trophy quarter-final at Poole Borough on Saturday (2.30pm).

Simier said: “I’m personally very excited about that game. The lads know what the Dorset (Trophy) means to the club.

“We do believe in ourselves. We don’t know what Poole are like, they haven’t played much as well. Fingers crossed we come back with a great result and carry on our great adventure.”
