Knife wielding Vytautas Ausrota rugby tackled woman to ground and threatened to rape her
This man rugby tackled a woman to the ground and threatened her with a knife with the intent to sexually assault her.
A woman aged in her 50s from Surrey, was walking along the South West Coast path just outside Lyme Regis when she heard a man running toward her from behind at approximately 3pm on Saturday, August 29, 2020.
Bournemouth Crown Court heard how Vytautas Ausrota, aged 30 and of Plymouth, approached the victim and rugby tackled her to the ground and knelt on top of her. The victim saw he was holding an orange penknife with the blade out.
The defendant threatened to kill the woman, telling her ‘I will kill you’ and said he wanted sex.
Moments later, two members of the public approached and the victim asked them for help. They told Ausrota they would call the police if he did not get off her.
The defendant got up and left the scene. Police were contacted and a search of the area was launched.
After 8.08pm, a ‘remorseful’ Ausrota called Dorset Police and admitted that he had attacked a woman in Lyme Regis and officers were looking for him. He was arrested in Broad Street and arrested.
Ausrota pleaded guilty to threatening with an offensive weapon, committing an offence with the intent to commit a sexual offence and assault by beating.
Ausrota was sentenced to a total of three years and four months in prison and made the subject of a Sexual Harm Prevention Order for an indefinite period. Ausrota was also ordered to pay a £190 victim surcharge.
James Connell Loveman raped 11-year-old girl and then cycled away from the scene
James Connell Loveman, 23, attacked a 11-year-old girl in the Old Windmill near Easton on a night.
Loveman, of Portland, was convicted of charges of rape and assault by penetration following a trial at Bournemouth Crown Court in September.
He had previously admitted an offence of sexual assault of a female aged under 13.
The victim, who was 11 at the time of the incident, was with her 14-year-old friend and they had spent the evening walking around Portland.
At around 1.30am on Saturday, August 31, 2019 they were in the area of Easton Square when they met a man who was sitting on a bicycle.
They walked with him to an old windmill to the south of Park Road, where they chatted for a time before the victim’s friend went outside. Once he was alone with the victim, Loveman sexually assaulted her and then raped her before riding off on his bike in the direction of Weston.
Following an investigation led by detectives from the Force’s Major Crime Investigation Team (MCIT), Loveman’s DNA was found to be a match of a profile obtained from the victim’s clothing and he was arrested on Saturday, September 7, 2019.
He was jailed for seven years.
Adrian Cordery attacked school girl in playing field
Rapist Adrian Cordery was jailed for 15 years for viciously attacking a 15-year-old girl at knifepoint in Dorchester.
The 33-year-old, of Dorchester, was handed the sentence at Bournemouth Crown Court.
He was told he will serve 15 years in jail and will be subject to an extended licence period of a further eight years.
The judge called it a 'shocking' crime and praised the victim in the case for her bravery as well as the police investigation which led to Cordery being arrested.

Cordery was found guilty of rape in September 2020 following a trial.
He attacked the girl on a school playing field as she walked back from her part-time job at night.
He had originally admitted rape, but changed his plea to not guilty, leading to a trial.
A jury unanimously found him guilty of rape, along with another charge of threatening with a knife relating to the attack in fields on Barnes Way on December 5, 2019.
Weymouth man groomed underage girl - and continued to see and message victim despite being on bail
Matthew Lucas Cheshire, aged 21 and of Ranelagh Road in Weymouth, admitted three offences of causing or inciting a child to engage in sexual activity and a charge of sexual activity with a child at Bournemouth Crown Court.
Cheshire – who was 20 at the time – was first arrested by officers from Dorset Police on August 6, 2020 following a report from a third party that he had been involved in a sexual relationship with a 14-year-old girl who he had contacted over social media.
When he was interviewed, the defendant said he had been in contact with her over social media but denied any sexual contact or communication.
Cheshire was released on police bail and his phone was seized for examination. It revealed messages exchanged between the defendant and the 14-year-old girl involving sexualised content and there were references to sexual activity that had taken place between them.
He was further arrested on September 10, 2020 following reports that he had been seen with the girl, in breach of his bail conditions. It was also found that Cheshire had continued to message the girl in a further breach of the terms of his bail.
He was sentenced to a total of four years and two months in prison with an extended licence period of a further two years. The defendant was also made subject to a sexual harm prevention order for a period of 10 years.
Peter Barney breached Sexual Harm Prevention Order
Peter Barney appeared at Bournemouth Crown Court on March 17 and was sentenced to 21 months in prison for an offence of breaching a Sexual Harm Prevention Order.
Barney was previously sentenced in March 2013 to three years in prison for an offence of assault by penetration and was made the subject of a Sexual Offences Prevention Order for an indefinite period.
The offence had been committed while he was carrying out work as a gardener and the order imposed by the court stated that he could not be alone in the course of his employment with any female not related to him in any property or garden.
On March 11 last year a woman was alone at her Wimborne home when Barney, aged 59, of Verwood Road, knocked on the front door and asked if she wanted any gardening work done.
As they spoke in the porch and the front garden, initially the woman did not recognise him but she came to realise that she did know him and had been made aware previously of the order he was subject to.
She said that during their interaction Barney made her feel very uncomfortable and made comments about her ‘beautiful eyes’.
As the woman went to call her husband, Barney left her garden and she heard a vehicle drive away.
The victim reported the matter to police and Barney was arrested the following day.
At court he admitted breaching the order, but denied making a comment about her eyes and claimed much of the interaction took place on the pavement outside her property rather than in her garden.
After hearing evidence, a judge dismissed Barney’s version of events in favour of the victim’s account.
At sentencing, Barney was also made subject to a new Sexual Harm Prevention Order and a restraining order was put in place to protect the victim. Both orders will run until further notice.
Mohammad Abdullah pushed victim to floor and held her by throat in attempted rape
This man attempted to rape a young woman after punching her in the face during a terrifying attack in Weymouth town centre.
Mohammad Abdullah, aged 23 and of no fixed abode, was sentenced at Winchester Crown Court to seven years in prison in 2020 after being found guilty of attempted rape at an earlier trial at the same court.
Dorset Police said the incident took place at around 4.30am on Saturday, May 18, 2020 when the victim, who was 18 years old, was walking alone through the town centre when the defendant approached her and offered to walk with her.
As they reached a block of flats, Abdullah forced his victim into a communal hallway and pushed her to the floor before holding her by the throat when she screamed for help.
He then punched her twice to the face as she tried to get away and forced her to the floor again, holding her arm behind her back.
Abdullah attempted to undress his victim but a passer-by heard her screams and went to her aid. The defendant fled the scene.
Police were called and officers attended. Following enquiries, Abdullah was arrested at an address in Poole the following day. He initially gave his age as 16.
The judge also ruled that Abdullah would serve an additional four years on licence.
Darren Martyn Shaw sexually assaulted friend's girlfriend after night out
Darren Martyn Shaw, aged 35 and of Talbot Road, Bournemouth, was sentenced at Bournemouth Crown Court on Monday March 22 after admitting an offence of assault by penetration at an earlier hearing at the same court.
The victim, who was 18 at the time, went out with friends on the evening of Tuesday, January 1, 2019, in Bournemouth town centre.
In the early hours of January 2 her group of friends met up with the victim’s boyfriend and the defendant, who was known to her boyfriend, but the victim had not met before.
They all went back to the victim’s address. The victim went to sleep, and she woke at around 7am to find the defendant sexually assaulting her.
She woke her boyfriend and told him what had happened. Police were called and officers attended the address, where Shaw was arrested.
Shaw was jailed for two years for the offence.
Neil Glover held gun to woman’s head as he raped her
This man held a gun to a woman's head as he raped her - and was handed an extended sentence after a judge deemed him to be dangerous.
Neil Glover was sentenced to 18 years behind bars for two offences of rape, assault by penetration and possessing an imitation firearm with intent to commit rape.
He was found guilty of these crimes after a trial at Bournemouth Crown Court.
The 48-year-old was issued with an extended period of licence to run for seven years, meaning Judge Jonathan Fuller QC sentenced him to a total of 25 years at a hearing on Friday, January 8.
He was also made subject to a Sexual Harm Prevention Order and placed on the sex offenders' register for an indefinite period.
A police detective described Glover's actions as "a truly horrifying sexual attack".
The defendant, of no fixed abode, had made contact with the victim, a woman aged in her 50s, to book a massage appointment at her address in Christchurch on the evening of Monday, February 10, last year.
During the course of the massage Glover forcibly touched the victim inappropriately without her consent. She managed to stop Glover, to which he then immediately apologised.
Following further apologies from the defendant, he asked for another appointment that was eventually agreed to by the victim. He visited her address again two days later on Wednesday, February 12.
During the appointment, when the victim had her back to him, Glover pulled out what she believed to be a gun and held it to her head.
The defendant forced her to perform oral sex on him before raping her.
The matter was reported to police by the victim the following day and Glover was arrested at the Bournemouth address he was staying in.
During a search of the premises officers found five imitation firearms, including a replica pistol that matched the description given by the victim.
When interviewed by officers Glover claimed that all the sexual activity had been consensual but made no comment to questions around the use of the firearm.
James Jewell jailed for life after serious child sex abuse
A child sex offender who encouraged two women to abuse children was handed a life sentence.
James Jewell, 36, of Brymer Road, Puddletown, was jailed at Maidstone Crown Court on Thursday, August 13, 2020.
Jewell was sentenced after admitting six counts of inciting a child to engage in sexual activity, aiding and abetting the sexual assault of a child and aiding and abetting an offender to engage in sexual activity with a child.
He was also sentenced for three counts of making indecent images of a child and two counts of distributing indecent images of a child.
The charges related to offences which occurred in Greenhithe and Tunbridge Wells between November 2017 and July 2018 where Jewell encouraged two women he met online to carry out sexual abuse of children.
Concerns were raised on 20 July 2018 after videos were found by a friend on a mobile phone of her abusing a child. She was also found to have shared these videos via an instant messaging app with Jewell.
"Thug" Owen Ackers jailed for assaulting mum and girlfriend
A “complete and utter animal” has been jailed for “biting a chunk” from his mother’s face and stamping on his pregnant girlfriend’s head.
Owen Alan Ackers, 23, of Lineside, Burton, was sentenced for causing grievous bodily harm with intent on his mother, Diane Ackers, and then-girlfriend Sapphire Bassett at Bournemouth Crown Court in December 2020.
The defendant, who has a history of violence against women, drank vodka and took cocaine on April 21, 2020 before the attack started at his home address.
Prosecuting, Susan Cavender told the court: “Owen took cocaine and accused Sapphire of sleeping around.
“His mother became more and more concerned he was worked up. She hid one bottle of vodka and tired to take another bottle away from him.
“His temper spilled over into an outburst of terror and rage. He was behaving like a complete and utter animal.
“Sapphire tried to pull the defendant away from Diane, he turned to her and pulled her by her hair on to the floor.
“The defendant stamped repeatedly on her head until she was unconscious. That left an imprint on her face.”
The court heard how Ackers then punched Ms Ackers and bit her between her eyes, taking a chunk out her face.
A victim impact statement from Ms Bassett, who was pregnant at the time and has since given birth without problems, said: “You broke me and belittled me, I thought I was worthless.
“I was ready to be a family and no one but you ripped that away.
“One day I will get there and I will be happy again, you killed us, not me.
“Rio is my number one and always will be. He looks like a Bassett and always will be a Bassett.”
The defendant claimed to be remorseful for the incident, but judge Robert Pawson threw that out when he saw Ackers “mouth obscenities” to Ms Bassett from the dock.
Mitigating, Nick Robinson said Ackers grew up in a violent environment, watching his mother be beaten by his step-father.
Ackers had initially entered a not guilty plea to causing GBH with intent, but changed his plea after a jury was sworn in at his trial last month.
Mr Pawson sentenced Ackers to eight and half years in prison for the assault on his mother, just under six years for the assault on Ms Bassett and two months for breaching a restraining order in place on Ms Bassett. He will also serve an additional 18 months on licence.
He would serve the sentences concurrently, meaning he will spend eight and a half years behind bars.
