AN APPEAL to save a community hub in Bridport has hit the ground running - raising more than £1,000 in just one week.
The Crowdfunder campaign to raise funds for St Mary's Church House Hall following a difficult financial year due to the pandemic, has raised more than £1,200 in seven days - 10 per cent of it's £10,000 target.
Although the South Street building is owned by the Magna Housing Association, the hall itself is now leased to a registered charity - St Mary’s Church House Hall Trust - and is run by a management committee of volunteer representatives.
Steve Bartlett, chairman of the hall's trustees, said: "I would like to thank all those folk who have already given money to support the appeal.
"We raised over £1100 in the first 7 days and I remain hopeful that we will achieve our target of £10,000. This will help ensure that our excellent community hall will still be available for all future users.”
