NEARLY 30 coronavirus cases have been confirmed in Dorset over the last 24 hours, according to the latest statistics.

Data released by the Government shows 26 people tested positive for Covid-19 across the county in the 24 hours leading up to 4pm on Thursday, March 18.

In the Dorset Council area, 13 new cases of coronavirus were reported in the area. 11,548 people have tested positive for Covid-19 over the course of the pandemic.

In the seven days leading up to March 13, the latest rolling seven-day period, the rate was 29.3 per 100,000 after 111 cases were confirmed in a week.

Meanwhile in the BCP Council area, 13 cases were also reported. The total number of cases in the area now stands at 24,990 with a rolling infection rate of 33.4 per 100,000 people.

The newly reported cases are a decrease on the number of cases reported on Wednesday, March 17, when 31 cases were reported.
