INVITES for first vaccinations at Bridport Medical Centre will temporarily stop from Monday, March 29 due to supply issues.

The reduction in supply is reportedly due to a delay in a delivery from India of five million Oxford-AstraZeneca doses.

There is likely to be delays over the next four weeks. The medical centre has emphasised that this will not affect those being booked in for their second dose of the coronavirus vaccination.

A spokesman for Bridport Medical Centre said: “NHS England has written to all surgeries and stated that invites for first vaccinations should stop from March 29, until further notice.

“Patients over the age of 50 who have yet to receive a first vaccine will be invited shortly and we ask that these patients take up this offer ASAP before supply ceases.

“This does not affect second doses."

The medical centre has asked members of the public not to call their surgery directly and to await an invitation - as the staff will not be able to book them into these slots directly.
