A LYME Regis charity is hosting its first ever tree awareness week.
The Word Forest Organisation is hosting its 'Trees Are the Key' awareness week to raise awareness of the many health benefits of trees, along with how the planting of trees can help to tackle climate change.
The awareness week began on Monday, March 15 and will run through to Sunday, March 21, tying in with the International Day of Forests.
Throughout the week, The Word Forest Organisation has been providing lots of ideas to encourage local people to spend time at their local parks, woodlands and forests.
The Word Forest is launching a photography competition alongside the event, encouraging residents to send in their best images of trees.
It will dedicate the planting of 10 trees to the winning photographer, as well publishing a feature on its website. The competition closes on Saturday, March 20 and the winners will be announced at the end of the Awareness Week on Sunday.
