A MAN has been taken to hospital to receive 'appropriate care' after police and coastguard officers received a report raising concerns about his welfare.

Police and coastguard officers were called to Cogden Beach, near Bridport, at around 12.15pm yesterday afternoon to a report raising concern for the welfare of a man.

A spokesman for Dorset Police said: "Dorset Police was called at 12.17pm on March 11 to a report raising concern for the welfare of a man at Cogden beach near Bridport.

"Officers attended and the man was taken to hospital by the ambulance service to receive the appropriate care."

A spokesman for Lyme Regis Coastguard added: "At 12.55 Lyme Regis Coastguard team was tasked alongside our colleagues from West Bay to assist Dorset Police with an incident in the Cogden Beach area.

"We were stood down on route as the situation had been resolved by the police."
