UNABLE to celebrate in the usual fashion, Bridport marked Commonwealth Day virtually with a cry from the town crier.

A tribute video was posted on Facebook on Monday, 8 March to mark both Commonwealth Day and International Women's Day.

Traditionally, councillors and council staff are joined by local schoolchildren to raise the Commonwealth flag to mark the anniversary of the modern Commonwealth.

With Covid restrictions in place this year, Bridport Town Council decided to instead put together a tribute video which included music from from the Commonwealth Youth Orchestra and Commonwealth Children’s Choir along with words from Bridport's town crier, John Collingwood.

A flag was also raised at outside the council offices at Mountfield.

The video can be found on the Bridport Town Council's Facebook page.
