ONE coronavirus death has been recorded at University Hospitals Dorset in the last 24 hours.

According to NHS England, the patient who tested positive for coronavirus before their death died on Friday, February 26.

The latest figures from NHS England show a total of 836 people have died with Covid-19 in Dorset hospitals since the start of the pandemic.

There have been 660 deaths in University Hospitals Dorset, 105 in Dorset County Hospital and 71 within the Dorset Healthcare Universities Trust.

A further 257 people, who tested positive for the Coronavirus (Covid-19) have died, bringing the total number of confirmed reported deaths in hospitals in England to 82,974.

Patients were aged between 23 and 98 years old. All except seven (aged 45 to 95 years old) had known underlying health conditions. Their families have been informed.

A total of 28 deaths were recorded in the South West region with the highest number – 73 - in the Midlands.
