A LIFE RING has washed up on a Burton Bradstock beach - and coastguard teams are appealing for information.

Members of the West Bay Coastguard Rescue Team were called to the scene for their first tasking of 2021 at around 9.50am yesterday morning. Officers were alerted by Solent Coastguard NMOC (National Maritime Operations Centre) to reports from a member of the public that a life ring had been washed up on Cogden Beach.

The ring is marked with the name, ‘Deep Vision’ with its location marked as Aberdeen.

On arrival at the scene, photos were taken, markings were recorded and officers carried out a shoreline search of the immediate area for any further equipment, debris or items of concern.

With nothing untoward found by the team, the Solent Coastguard was updated and the team returned to the station whilst further inquiries are made.

If you have any information on the current owner of the life ring, or if it was recently lost from a vessel, please contact the coastguard via 112.

If you run into trouble on the coast or if you see something which gives you cause for concern, dial 999 and ask for the coastguard.
