A FLOOD alert has been issued in the west of Dorset and residents are encouraged to 'be prepared'.
Groundwater levels in the west of Dorset have been stable following a recent dry spell.
However, following a cold start to the week, warmer and wetter conditions are expected and the combination of floodwater and icy conditions will make roads especially treacherous.
A spokesman for the Environment Agency said: "As we enter a period of warmer wetter conditions, a gradual increase in levels is expected towards the middle of next week.
"Rainfall falling on frozen ground will increase the risk of localised surface water flooding.
"Flooding is possible - be prepared."
