OFFICIAL figures show 136 new coronavirus cases were confirmed in Dorset over the last 24 hour period.

Latest Government data shows that 48 cases were confirmed in the Dorset Council area over the 24 hours leading up to 4pm yesterday.

In the seven days leading up to February 8, the latest rolling seven-day period, 506 cases were confirmed in this part of the county - which means the rolling rate stood at 133.7 per 100,000 people.

As of 4pm yesterday the total number of cases confirmed in the Dorset Council area since the start of the pandemic is now 10,694.

Meanwhile, in the same time period the Bournemouth Christchurch Poole Council area recorded 88 cases, taking the total since the start of the pandemic to 23,803.

During the week leading up to February 8, 891 cases were confirmed in BCP, giving a rolling infection rate of 225.4 per 100,000 people.
