Almost 1,000 people will be attending Bridport Medical Centre again today for their Covid vaccination.

It is expected to be busy again in the area and those attending are advised to plan ahead.

Locals not attending the clinic are urged to avoid West Allington and West Road during the morning if they can.

The vaccinations clinics have been a major community effort with volunteers helping out on the day to ensure things run smoothly and local businesses donating goodies.

Today's clinic will see around 990 vaccinations given from 8.30am to 1.30pm.

In a message to patients, the Bridport Coronavirus Community Support group said: "Parking for those getting vaccinations is available in the West Street/bus station car park with parking spaces at Bridport Medical Centre mostly reserved for those with mobility issues who would not otherwise be able to get to the surgery.

"Could all those arriving please have their face masks on as they arrive - including drivers who may not be getting out of the car.

"The cold weather continues so please do wrap up warm as there may be a wait outside. To help this, it is advised not to arrive early for your vaccination. You will not miss your appointment.

"It is likely to be busy around the medical centre in West Allington and West Road, so if anyone local could avoid the area during the morning, that would be greatly appreciated.

"Once again, thank you all so much for your patience and support in helping the vaccination clinics run so smoothly."

The clinic on Wednesday saw 1,500 vaccines given at the medical centre.

The support group said: "An incredible achievement from all involved!

"It was such a cold day, so thank you for everyone's patience while queuing.

"Thank you for the donations of roulades and cakes from Cook, bacon and vegan sandwiches from Grow Slow Nursery & Shop and sweets and biscuits from patients.

"Thank you all very much!"
