MORE than 200 people tested positive for coronavirus Dorset over the last 24 hours, according to the latest figures.

Data released by Public Health England show 211 cases were confirmed in the county in the 24 hours leading up to 4pm on Friday, February 12.

In the Dorset Council area, 112 cases of coronavirus were confirmed. Since the beginning of the pandemic, 10,646 people have tested positive. 

In the seven days leading up to February 7, the latest seven-day rolling rate, 567 cases were recorded, meaning the rolling infection rate stood at 149.8 per 100,000.

99 people tested positive for Covid-19 in the BCP Council area. The total number of cases in this area now stands at 23,715.

The rolling rate stood at 234.7 per 100,000 people, with 928 cases confirmed in a week.

The 211 new cases reported on Friday are an increase on the 169 cases confirmed in the county by 9am on Thursday, February 11.
