MORE than 150 people across Dorset tested positive for coronavirus, according to latest figures.

Public Health England figures show that there were 169 cases confirmed in the county by 9am on Thursday, February 11.

68 people tested positive for Covid-19 in the Dorset Council area. Since the beginning of the pandemic, there have been 10,534 reported cases of coronavirus. 

In the BCP Council area, there were 101 new cases of coronavirus. The total in this area now stands at 23,616 cases.

The new cases are an increase on the 127 coronavirus cases reported across the county on Wednesday, February 10. 

Thursday's reported figures have been published on Friday, February 12 after an issue with reporting the figures on Thursday evening. 

The health body is now including Pillar 2 tests – those carried out by commercial partners – alongside Pillar 1 tests, which are analysed in NHS or PHE laboratories and which made up the first stage of the Government's mass testing programme.

The cases in Dorset were among the 201,392 recorded across the South West, a figure which rose by 864 over the period.

Cumulative case counts include patients who are currently unwell, have recovered and those that have died.
