ANOTHER community effort saw more than 1,000 people vaccinated in Bridport.

A total of 1,350 people received their Covid-19 vaccinations over a six hour period at Bridport Medical Centre on Saturday.

The vaccination clinic was a combined effort with teams from Bridport Medical Centre, The Tollerford Practice, Barton House Medical Practice, Lyme Bay Medical And Dental Practices and Charmouth and Eilish Davoren working hard to make the clinic a success.

The clinic saw the Bridport community come together on the day alongside the vaccination marshals, with a number of businesses and residents playing a part, supporting the Bridport Coronavirus Community Support group effort.

This included Coastal Nets Ltd providing farmhouse cakes, the Cornish Bakery in West Bay donating 1,500 cups, Morrisons donating sausages for sausage baguettes and a number of residents coming together to offer teas, coffees, and baguettes.

The clinic was the latest in Bridport Medical Centre's vaccination programme.

Around 1,300 vaccines will be given at Bridport Medical Centre tomorrow, Wednesday, February 10.

The West Street/bus station car park will again be available for those getting vaccines at the medical centre, although there won’t be any marshals in the car park.

There is limited parking onsite which is mostly reserved for those with mobility issues who would not otherwise be able to get to the centre.

Those arriving at the centre are asked to wear face masks, including those arriving by car and drivers.

Drivers are requested to avoid West Allington and West Road as the area is likely to be very busy, the team will do their best to keep things moving but ask that anyone local avoid the area.

The centre is making its way through the priority cohort groups and is currently sending text messages to inform residents when it is their time to receive the vaccine.

Once the text message has been received, residents can click on a link which will enable them to book their own Covid-19 vaccination appointment.

The messages will be sent to patients who are in the eligible cohorts with a recorded mobile phone number.

Residents are encouraged to update the surgery if you have changed your mobile number or email address. To do so, send the updated details to bridportmedical.centre@nhs.net
