ALMOST 400 patients with coronavirus are being treated across hospitals in Dorset, according to latest figures.

NHS England data shows 386 people were being treated in Dorset hospitals for Covid-19 by 8am on Tuesday, February 2.

Dorset County Hospital Trust was caring for 61 coronavirus patients in hospital as of Tuesday, figures show - down from 80 on the same day the previous week.

The number of beds at Dorset County Hospital NHS Foundation Trust occupied by people who tested positive for Covid-19 increased by 74 per cent in the last four weeks – 28 days ago, there were 35.

The figures also show that 36 new Covid patients were admitted to hospital in Dorset County Hospital NHS Foundation Trust in the week to January 31. This was down from 58 in the previous seven days.

Elsewhere in the county, University Hospitals Dorset Trust was caring for 290 coronavirus patients in hospital as of Tuesday.

NHS England data shows the number of people being treated in hospital for Coronavirus by 8am on February 2 was down from 378 on the same day the previous week.

The number of beds at University Hospitals Dorset NHS Foundation Trust occupied by people who tested positive for Covid-19 increased by 41 per cent in the last four weeks – 28 days ago, there were 205.

The figures also show that 200 new Covid-19 patients were admitted to hospital in University Hospitals Dorset NHS Foundation Trust in the week to January 31. This was down from 298 in the previous seven days.

Dorset Healthcare University Trust was also caring for 35 coronavirus patients in hospital, down from 79 from the week before.

The number of beds at Dorset Healthcare University NHS Foundation Trust occupied by people who tested positive for Covid-19 increased by nine per cent in the last four weeks – 28 days ago, there were 32.

NHS England statistics also show that 22 new Covid patients were admitted to hospital in Dorset Healthcare University NHS Foundation Trust in the week to January 31. This was down from 57 in the previous seven days.

Across England there were 27,397 people in hospital with Coronavirus as of February 2, with 3,324 of them in mechanical ventilation beds.

The number of Covid-19 patients hospitalised has increased by four per cent nationally in the last four weeks, while the number on mechanical ventilators has increased by 40 per cent.
