A FILM celebrating togetherness after lockdown has been released by a dance school.

Dancers from Bridport Youth Dance have starred in a short film called The Dance Weavers - Emerging which was inspired by the emergence of life after the first lockdown was eased in July last year.

The eight-minute film, which was directed and choreographed by Nikki Northover, the founder of Bridport Youth Dance, was filmed, edited and produced either remotely or with social distancing measures in place and took roughly three months to complete.

Nikki said: "It was wonderful to reconnect again after we had been closed for four months after the first lockdown - it was time for us to emerge and create again.

"What the students love most is to be dancing as a group, dancing with their friends, sharing, creating, inspiring, encouraging and connecting with each other."

The film, which was shot and edited by Dorset filmmaker Elliot Millson, was filmed at locations across west Dorset, including Charmouth Beach, Eype Beach, Lewesdon Hill, Allington Hill and Symondsbury Estate.

Nikki said: "It was beautiful to be dancing in the stunning natural landscape within which we are lucky enough to live.

"Dance is a powerful tool for emotional and mental well-being. It is about freedom. It makes the students happy."

Nikki added: "I hope that the film will continue to uplift people and show that there will be a time when we are out of this current difficult and bewildering situation and a time when we will reconnect to each other and the natural world."
