A BRIDPORT man accused of sex offences will have his case heard in the Crown Court.

Mark Rawlings, 51, appeared at Weymouth Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, February 3.

The defendant, of Court Orchard Road, is accused of intentionally attempting to cause or incite a 12-year-old girl to engage in sexual activity between January 14, 2019 and January 29, 2019.

He also faces two further charges of attempting to engage in sexual communication with two people under the age of 16 between January 14, 2019 and January 29, 2019 and April 2, 2019 and April 12, 2019.

Rawlings spoke only to confirm his name, address and date of birth. He entered no plea to the three charges.

Due to the seriousness of the charges, the case was sent to Bournemouth Crown Court for a plea and case management hearing on Thursday, March 4.

Rawlings was released on unconditional bail.
