Bridport Medical Centre is hosting another Covid vaccination clinic today - and people attending are advised to plan ahead as it will be very busy in the area.

Today's clinic is for those in the clinically extremely vulnerable (CEV) group as well as patients aged 70-75.

Those who have not managed to book and get an appointment are advised another clinic will be held this Saturday - so don't worry if you don't get a slot today.

A spokesman for the centre said: "As before, the high volume sessions pose a huge logistical challenge both within the Medical Centre but also with car parking at the centre and traffic in the surrounding roads.

"People attending are advised to please plan ahead.

"Those attending should please arrive no earlier than 5 minutes prior to their appointment time.

"Parking on site will be strictly limited to those with severe mobility issues who would not otherwise be able to get to the centre. Those attending for vaccination should please utilise the public car parks in and around the town centre and make the 5 to 10 minute walk to the centre; this should minimise traffic around the Medical Centre.

"We appreciate attending may be more challenging for those who are CEV but ask that they consider being dropped off at the surgery with their driver then (for the driver to) make use of the allocated parking to wait, prior to collection."

Dorset Council has allocated additional car parking space for those attending for a vaccination at West Street (Bus Garage) car park. There will be no charge for patients attending the centre for vaccination. Marshals will be available to direct walkers to the centre.

Bridport and Lyme Regis News:

For those dropping off and picking up patients, the estimated time for collection will be around 30 minutes from drop off time.

The centre spokesman added: "The vaccinating teams and marshals will do everything they can to minimise wait times, but queues do sometimes spill outside; rain is forecast and patients are asked to wear suitable clothing and footwear to prepare against cold and wet weather.

"Please avoid West Allington and West Road as queueing traffic is expected; the team will do their best to keep things moving but request that anyone local to please avoid the area on these days."
