Bridport residents are reminded it's another busy day at the Medical Centre as there's another Covid-19 vaccination clinic running today.

The session is for those patients in the group described as 'Clinically Extremely Vulnerable (CEV).

It is stressed that today will 'incredibly busy' at the centre and people should avoid attending for routine matters such as dropping off prescription requests/letters to GPs.

People should avoid West Allington and West Road as queueing traffic is expected.

The centre hosted a major vaccination clinic last Saturday which was incredibly well run and caused no major disruption.

The centre said: "As before, the high volume sessions pose a huge logistical challenge both within the Medical Centre but also with car parking at the centre and traffic in the surrounding roads.

"People attending are advised to please plan ahead.

"Those attending should please arrive no earlier than 5 MINUTES PRIOR to their appointment time.

"Parking onsite will be strictly limited to those with severe mobility issues who would not otherwise be able to get to the centre. Those attending for vaccination should please utilise the public car parks in and around the town centre and make the 5 to 10-minute walk to the centre; this should minimise traffic around the Medical Centre.

"We appreciate attending may be more challenging for those who are CEV but ask that they consider being dropped off at the surgery with their driver then able to make use of the allocated parking to wait, prior to collection."

Dorset Council have allocated additional car parking space for those attending for a vaccination at West Street (Bus Garage) car park). There will be no charge for patients attending the centre for vaccination. Marshals will be available to direct walkers to the centre. (See map attached).

For those dropping off and picking up patients, the estimated time for collection will be around 30 minutes from drop off time.

The centre said: "The vaccinating teams and marshals will do everything they can to minimise wait times, but queues do sometimes spill outside; some rain is forecast and patients are asked to wear suitable clothing and footwear to prepare against cold and wet weather."

Meanwhile, staff at the centre said they were aware of a scam email circulating with a supposed link to book a vaccination. The centre is planning to send text messages to invite people to a clinic which will have a link to book but be aware that they will never ask for payment details.
