RESIDENTS are being reminded that the 2021 census will be sent out soon and there is help available for anyone struggling to get online.

Households across Dorset will be asked to take part in the 2021 census on March 21.

The census, a once-in-a-decade survey that gives the most accurate estimate of all the people and households in England and Wales, has been carried out every 10 years since 1801, with the exception of 1941.

Iain Bell, deputy national statistician at Office for National Statistics, said: "A successful census will ensure everyone from local government to charities can put services and funding in the places where they are most needed."

The 2021 census will run predominantly online and Dorset Council's digital hotline is offering support to people who may wish the get online for the first time to complete it.

Digital champions can be reached by telephone on 01305 221048 between 10am and midday Monday to Friday.
