A YELLOW warning for ice is in place this morning after a weekend of treachery on Dorset roads.

The Met Office has issued a yellow warning for ice which will remain in place until 11am today.

The weather forecaster said: "Icy patches will likely cause some travel disruption.

"You should expect some injuries from slips and falls on icy surfaces and icy patches on some untreated roads, pavements and cycle paths."

A spokesman for Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service said: "Following the fall of yesterday's snow - there is a lot of ice on the roads due to the extremely low temperatures overnight.

"Lots of patches of black ice and many minor roads have yet to be reached by gritters so please proceed with extreme caution."
